Bruce Weber: Haiti/Little Haiti

Photographer Bruce Weber is in the midst of an ongoing project that started in 2003: chronicling the daily struggles of Haitian immigrants living in Miami. A display of 75 of these photographs are on view now at the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami through February 3rd.  More information is available at mocanomi.org.


Cooking with the Calamari Sisters
Spending an evening watching a cable access cooking show doesn’t sound very exciting…unless its part of a Broadway show. Cooking with the Calamari Sisters, part of the Off Broadway in Broward series, is about a pair of sibling hosts of a cooking show trying to get through their final broadcast. Cooking with the Calamari Sisters opens at 7:30 January 6th at the Broward Center’s Amaturo Theater. Tickets are available at browardcenter.org.

Little Johnny Jones
The Palm Beach Light Opera Company kicks off the new year with one of the most popular musical comedies from the turn of the century, “Little Johnny Jones”. Written by George M. Cohan, the “Father of American Musical Theater”, “Little Johnny Jones” runs for one performance only, Sunday January 16th at 8 at the Eissey Theatre, Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens. Afro-Brazil
Smart Stage Matinee at Aventura Art and Cultural Center presents Afro-Brazil, a unique blend of Brazilian music with African rhythm.
