James Ehnes
Violinist James Ehnes says his current tour with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra is like a U.N. sanctioned event: a Canadian ensemble with a Canadian violinist and conductor touring the U.S. playing a violin concerto by an American composer. Ehnes and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra will play Barber’s Violin concerto Tuesday the 11th at the Broward Center and Wednesday the 12th at the Kravis Center.  Both concerts start at 8pm.  Tickets are available at browardcenter.org and kravis.org.

One woman, many masks
The members of World and Eye Arts Theater offer up a new play this weekend, called Beneath the Hood. Its a one-woman show that deals with the fringes in our society; marginal characters in a fictional community where relationships develop through gossip and poetic narration. All the while actress Jean Minuchin slips in and out of different archetypal masks. Beneath the Hood starts at 8pm Saturday night at the World and Eye Coffee House in Ft. Lauderdale. Visit worldandeye.com for more information.
